After being in this school for only one year, I am so pleased with the progress that both of my children are making. Class teachers are fantastic and always approachable no matter how busy they are, and I must say Mrs Pepper is FANTASTIC! I love attending the assemblies and school activities because of how enthusiastic she and all the teachers are! Keep up the good work.
We are so proud of how much our son has come on and all that is with greatest thanks to the staff, if only he came to your wonderful school earlier. He has his spark back and the hunger to learn, we are so grateful for everything. Sending massive thanks and may your school continue to grow.
We moved into our building 3 years ago in February 2022 as a result of the growing population in Shepshed, and the Local Authority commissioned for it to be turned from a secondary school into a building that was suitable for a primary school. This resulted in us having some extra rooms and spaces to utilise for various interventions. The original plan was for us to utilise rooms to facilitate our own nursery, however the LA funding that was originally available for this was reallocated as at the time there wasn’t a need in the area for another nursery so this plan didn’t come to fruition.
During a visit to our school in early 2024 Justine Roberts and Ted Walker from Leicestershire's SENA service toured the school and noticed our own ‘makeshift’ nurture provision that was currently in place to support a small number of EYFS pupils that were not yet ready for mainstream teaching but didn’t yet have EHCPs. They also saw the space we had available and this sparked the idea that we could potentially have our own official specialist resource base as there was (and still is!) an ever growing need for these provisions.
As an inclusive school that was already working extremely hard to meet the diverse needs of our children we were nervous but excited to embark on this journey.
