As parents we are so pleased we chose St Botolph’s as we feel both of our children have had exemplary support and care as they have progressed through their school year.
In our opinion as parents, St Botolph’s is an OUTSTANDING Primary School. The entire team of teachers and support staff have continually endeavored to challenge our child and sympathetically support his individual needs. The positive ‘can do’ ethos that exists within this school has facilitated tremendous progress in all aspects of his education….Our son says “I love my school”, that says it all!
My daughter enjoys everything she does at school. She loves to come to school. Why would you pick any other school? St Botolph’s is the best! Great staff and teachers who do their very best.
St. Botolph’s Primary School is dedicated to providing an environment that promotes healthy eating and enables pupils to make informed choices about the food they eat. This will be achieved by a whole school approach to food and nutrition documented in our whole school food policy. Click here to read.
The school understands that snacks can be an important part of the diet of young people and can contribute positively towards a balanced diet.
The school discourages the consumption of snacks high in fat and sugar at break-time and encourages pupils to eat fruit and drink milk or water.
Free fruit is available for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children at break times, no other snacks should be brought into school other than a drink of water in a named container. Key Stage 2 children can bring their own fruit from home or can purchase hot tuck from our daily tuck-shop. These should be paid/ordered in advance via ParentPay.
Traditionally children with a birthday have had the option to bring treats into school to share with their class should they wish to do so. We are happy to continue with this but parents are free to opt out if they do not wish their child to accept this.
The National Nutritional Standards for Healthy School Lunches recommend that drinking water should be available to all pupils, every day, and free of charge.
The school agrees with this recommendation and provides a free supply of drinking water via water fountains. Children are also encouraged to bring their own water bottle to drink throughout the day.
The school encourages parents and carers to provide children with packed lunches that complement the National Nutritional Standards. We have developed a packed-lunch policy alongside parents and children in line with these standards.
We are fortunate to have our own kitchen on site and healthy, delicious school meals are available to order on a daily basis. Please click here to read our School Meal Debt Policy
Children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal, currently paid for by the Department for Education.
Children may also be entitled to Free School Meals based on family income. Please see www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/social-care-and-supporting-families/free-school-meals for eligibility criteria and to apply. It is important that parents claim this support (including children in Years Foundation to Year 2) as children that qualify for income based Free School Meals will also be able to access extra support in school.
Children in KS2 (Years 3,4,5 and 6) have to pay for school dinners. The current price is £2.60 per day/£13.00 per week.
The menus are on a three week cycle and current menus can be viewed below:-
Children under 5 are entitled to free milk but they will only receive it if they have been registered with Cool Milk.
Any child at the school can be registered to receive milk at school, for more information see the Cool Milk Scheme website.
