After school clubs
What we offer.....
We run a wide variety of clubs, usually for 6 weeks at a time at some point over the year. This is an overview of just some of the clubs that could be on offer during the academic year:
Young voices: This is a club for all abilities in KS2 who love to sing, when we rehearse to participate in the Young Voices concert at The Resorts World Arena in Birmingham with 6000 other children!
Archery (SH Sports – outside provider): Our Archery clubs are as close to the real thing as it comes, they provide an opportunity for children to experience the sport in a safe and fun environment. How good is your child’s aim? Children will take part in this exciting sport while also learning the important fundamental skills it takes, including safety, technique and how to get closer to the bullseye every time. The activities will enable the children to use Archery as a vehicle for learning maths through their scoring, literacy through language and citizenship through cooperation and self discipline. The activities provide an alternative and complimentary way of developing skills such as coordination, balance and strength as well as personal, social and mental skills all while having so much FUN playing Archery!
Multisports: This is run throughout the year in rotation for KS1, LKS2 and UKS2 by Mr Vasey. Lots of sports are covered including dodgeball and hockey.
RotaKids: Rotakids is a Rotary sponsored organisation for children in KS2, offering the opportunity to try something new, make new friends and make a difference to their local and wider community. Activities have, in the past, included raising money for various charities, random acts of kindness, performing at a local care home and participating in the Shoe Box Appeal.
Cooking club: We make a variety of simple bakes for the children to take home and enjoy. We cover some of the basic skills needed to bake at home
Activity Club: A variety of different activities including arts and crafts, simple cooking and games for KS1 children.
Fencing club (SH sports – outside provider): Our Fencing club is designed to introduce children to the sport of fencing in a fun and safe way. Fencing uses plastic swords and safety masks, presenting this age group with the fundamental movements used in fencing and to experience the excitement of combat! They improve their agility, balance and physical co-ordination, control and discipline, develop sporting behaviour and their thinking and social skills. Our highly-qualified coaches deliver fun sessions, allowing your child/children to enhance their skills and techniques vital towards successful short and long term athletic development.
Makaton club: This is for KS2 pupils and is held for those students who would like to learn the reasons for Makaton and the basic signs required to open up communication with others in our world. The children decide themselves what they would like to learn throughout the half term.
First Aid club: For KS2 - We will follow the St John Ambulance KS2 statutory and recommended first aid pathway and cover the following:
- Calling for help
- Head injuries
- Bites and stings
- Asthma
- Bleeding
- Choking
- Basic life support
Mini Trampolining club (SH sports - outside provider): Mini Trampolining can be a fun and beneficial activity for children. Itprovides them with an opportunity to have fun while also engaging inphysical activity. It's a popular choice among children for its combination ofentertainment and exercise. Trampolining provides an excellentcardiovascular workout, helps improve balance, coordination, andflexibility. It also strengthens muscles, particularly in the legs and core, whilst increasing social interaction.
Netball club: This is held for KS2 children in the summer term. Children will learn the rules of netball, some of the skills needed and will take part in some mini netball games too.
Yoga club: Learning some healthy mind and body techniques to help you calm down and relax. Yoga can be done anywhere so come and learn all about it and enjoy its benefits in a small group setting.
Scooter skills club (SH sports – outside provider): Calling all pint-sized daredevils and scooter superstars! Strap on your helmets, buckle up your knee pads, and get ready to roll into a cool turbo-charged adventure! Embark on an epic journey where the playground transforms into a bustling place of endless possibilities. Our Scooter Skills Club is not just a club; it's a portal to a world where twists, turns, and tricks are the keys to unlocking a universe of fun! With obstacles, ramps and rails, we've got an array of challenges that will turn your ordinary scooting skills into extraordinary feats! But that's not all, incorporating road safety skills into the club, especially for our younger participants, there really is something for all ages and abilities. So, if you're ready to transform your scooting routine into a thrilling spectacle of skill and camaraderie, come roll with us at our scooter skills club! Because here, the only limit is your imagination, and the only rule is to have an absolute blast on two wheels!
Zorbing club (SH sports – outside provider): Zorbing is a fun and exciting sport for all ages, from learning the basics of rolling, to playing battle games there’s something for everyone in this club. Children will learn how to use our Zorbing bubbles safely as well as enjoy many of our games in this fun filled club.
Tag Rugby club: This is held for KS2 children in the summer term. Children will learn the basic rules of tag rugby following England Rugby’s rules, some of the skills needed and will take part in some short matches too.
Cricket club: This is held for KS2 children in the summer term. Children will learn the basic rules of cricket following the ECB’s Dynamo rules, some of the skills needed and will take part in some short-format cricket games too.
